I don't listen to podcasts. I've tried but never really gotten into the new trend. I prefer my music. I think the biggest thing is that a podcast takes intentionality to listen to. Having it in the background either takes away from the podcast itself or whatever I'm doing while I listen.
Listening to NPR was something I struggled to accomplish. There were numerous times I thought to myself that I should do. But I continued to put it off. I didn't want to take the time. I didn't really understand what NPR was. I don't like the radio, honestly, never have. I want to be in control of what I'm listening to. I thought NPR was simply the normal radio. I didn't even realize they had podcasts and talks. Plus, I thought they only covered the news and politics and things that I generally don't care about or have an interest in.

It wasn't until I actually got on NPR's website that I realized how much variety there is in what they broadcast. I quickly found a podcast entitled "How to Succeed at College." I was shocked to find something that I could relate to. Listening to that show helped me in a lot of ways. I learned a lot about things I can do to study better. The show has so many tips for college kids and it was only the first one I found. More digging provided more shows I would enjoy listening to.
While I can’t say I’m going to listen to NPR all the time now, or even at all, my eyes were definitely opened to what is offered. It’s not a boring news station, it’s so much more and there’s something for everyone.
